Skin that feels tight in the cold? Why your moisturizer isn't enough anymore.

Francesco Pautasso

You know that annoying feeling of "glass skin" or tightness when you first leave the house in the morning? In Turin, we know the damp cold that seeps into your bones, but we often underestimate what it does to our faces.

Laura's Case: "My cream burns!"

Last week, Laura, one of our 40-year-old customers, stopped by the pharmacy. She was desperate because her usual light moisturizer, which she'd loved all summer, suddenly burned when applied. The reason? Her skin barrier was compromised. Low temperatures cause vasoconstriction (blood vessels constrict to retain heat), reducing the skin's nutrient supply. Furthermore, wind and smog thin the skin's natural hydrolipidic film. The result: invisible micro-cuts that "sting" if you apply a product that's too light or too watery.

Hydration vs. Nourishment: The Mistake Everyone Makes

In winter, it's not enough to "hydrate" (water), you need to "nourish" (oil). Imagine your skin like a wall: in winter, you need a coat, not a t-shirt. Look for products that contain ceramides, shea butter, vegetable oils, or beeswax .

The "Face-Saving" Routine I Recommend:

  1. Affinity cleansing: Stop using harsh foaming gels. Switch to a cleansing milk or makeup-removing oil (like those from Nuxe or Veralab Uplift ). Cleansing without degreasing is the first step. 👉 Find gentle cleansers here: [Link to the Cleansing Collection]

  2. Barrier Cream: During the day, use a richer cream. Brands like Avène Cicalfate+ or La Roche-Posay Effaclar H ISO-Biome are masters at repairing the barrier. If you have very dry skin, apply a generous layer like a mask in the evening. 👉 The best nourishing creams.

  3. Hands: They're the first to sag and age. Always keep a repairing cream in your pocket (the Goovi Save My Hands or the Rêve de Miel Mani by Nuxe are excellent) and use it before going out, not just when they're already damaged. 👉 Protect your hands.

Listen to your skin: if it feels tight, it's crying out for nourishment. Don't ignore it.
